Newbie...oil pressure sending unit and misc...

Hi All,

I am a newbie to this forum, and to Scout ll's. I have a 76 Terra with 196" 4 banger. I am restoring functionallity to all systems right now and need a little help with sending units for oil pressure gauge and temperature gauge. Local parts stores show more than one option for both these sending units...any of you know the part numbers or have any hints to help with selecting the right sending units? I do not have the stock sending units for this truck. Previous owners after market gauge cluster set in truck.

Thank you for advance for advice.

Maybe try some gm type sending units...not really sure what to tell you. If you are going stock, they were all electric.I disconected mine and put mechanical in myself. I never trusted electricity.

Re: Newbie...oil pressure sending unit and misc...

I managed to find a sending unit that *seems* to be the right one. Of course the gauge did not work when I installed it. Upon more investigation, the voltage regulator (takes voltage down to 5 V) for the gauges (oil pressure, temperture, and gas) was not working. Even if I cannot find a OEM or aftermarket specifically for the Scout, I should be able to get one from Fry's or Radio Shack that will work for this application. In previous job, I was a computer technician, so electrical circuits are natural to me.

Thank you for the post...I think I ended up with a sending unit from AMC 258" inline 6 (used to own one).
