Just picked up a couple of scouts

I am probably going to tear them down for parts. But both of them run and drive. 1 is a mid 60s Scout with a 4 banger and twinsticked frame is rough back of body cutoff. 2 is an early 70s 72? with a v-8 345 or the smaller one body is pretty good though. E mail me if you want 1 or both the scout II is still at its former owners until he digs up the title. but I could go get pics sometime if someone is interested.

I am looking for some Dana 44s or narrowed 60s with 4.10 or 4.88 gears a Dana 300 twinsticked and a T-18a Tranny. Always willing to work something out.

Rodney

Re: Just picked up a couple of scouts

I'mnot interested in parts because you are way to far away from me, I'm in Las Vegas. Nevada but any way I'm not absolutely sure about this but I think that the Scout II has Dana 44's under it.You ought to check into this it might save you some hassle in your look for Dana 44's. You might want to check out the transfer cases to because one of them might be a Dana 300. Of coarse as old as these vehicles are you never know what some former owner has changed.

Re: Just picked up a couple of scouts

The Scouts you have will not have a Dana 300 (unless a PO swapped it in).

Same with the 44s. It's probably easier to find a D44 or even a 60 all ready for your jeep. Or better yet, build up the Scout II, there is some great potential with the beefy drivetrain and the gobs of torque you'll get from the 345.

I say shop around and find something ready and sell the Scouts to keep them complete, especially if they run. Seems a shame to administer the death penalty to a good running vehicle by cutting it up.

You can check out www.binderbulletin.org for more info on IH rigs.

Jason
