i am looking at a scout with a diesel, i was wandering how hard is it to find parts for these motors? how reliable are they? i understand it was made by nissan? what years did scouts have them and any other info would be a great help.
I own a 1980 model Scout with the Turbo Diesel. As far as the engine goes, with regular maintenance, there is nothing more reliable. I think they were made from 76-80 with 80 being the only turbo charged. A company called Jessco(sp?) sells engine parts but you will have to find them on the internet. Diesel milage is excellent, I get about 28 miles to the gallon. If you have any other questions, feel free to write me at [email protected]
Nissan SD33 try http://www.jescoweb.com and follow the links through Nissan, and SD33 to get info on the motors. AFAIK, Jesco can supply anything up to complete new motors. ( Big $$$ for a completel motor I bet)
