4X4 Chevy van

Hello i have a 1988 full size chevy van that i converted into a 4x4 useing running gear off of a 1980 3/4 ton chevy truck. I am now buliding a new van useing a 1999 express van with a 4.3 engine in it. Can anyone tell me if the automatic trany that is in the van now can be modifyed to take a 1980 alum transfercase Or will i be able to mount the older trany out of the 1980 onto the 1999 4.3 engine. Any help on this build would be great.

I think you're going to have to get a different transmission. You need one that is specifically for a 4wd vehicle.

I don't know, a divorced transfercase would be a way to go. that being said theres alot to consider. drive lines and the axel rotation and how much lift is involved.
