1986 k10 wot stumble

i have a 1986 k10, completly stock set up with a quadrajet 4 barrel,
i have checked the timing, it is dead on, new air and fuel filter,
the truck runs perfect right up untill i floor it down the highway
it almost seems like it is running out of gas, if i let up on the throttle just a bit it smooths out and is fine? im not sure where to go from here? any help please

first off it sounds like the secondaries might not be opening all the way. with the motor off pull the air cleaner and open the secondaries manually then use something to push on the bottom butterfies, make sure that it is long enough that if u drop it ucan pull it out with ur fingers. if they open all the way then i would check for vacum leeks. if they don't open go to autozone or what ever is closer and get a spacer kit for it. another thing u might check isto replace the vacume advance in the distributor. i've seen some lowriders and others who rplaced their carb with what they thought was the stock replacement and the secondaries only open about an 1/8" and thats enough to get the needle valves to open and you get tomuch gas no air. let me know theres other things to try.
