rough ride

i got an 81 short box with a 4 inch lift and would really appreciate it if some one could tell me how to smooth out my ride

Do you know what brand of lift you have? Some of them just have stiffer springs than others, hence a rough ride. A shock upgrade might help. But if the springs are just stiff, there isn't much you can do short of getting a different brand.

you may have to let the springs break in if they are new. if they have been there quite a while you could try taking out the overload leafs and maybe one more leaf per side. then it might sag a bit though.

Get some quality springs. Back them up with some good shocks.
