So you have auto locking hubs then I take it. The cap is held on with several allen head bolts, but you have no selector for going between free and lock and your supposed to back up so far after disengaging 4 wheel so the hubs can unlock themselves.
If it were me, I'd switch them out to a selectable one. They aren't that expensive and you know if your hubs are locked or not. I had auto's on a truck I had. My dad actually bought it new and they worked fine at first, but by the time I bought it several years later, they sometime wouldn't disengage as they were supposed to so I switched them out.
