85 k5 1-ton axle install ??

I just purchased an 86 K3500 4x4 with a 14BFF & a D60. What mod will I have to make to swap the axles over to the Blazer ? Some say I have to move the spring perches others say use the 1-ton rear spring hangers. I can't measure anthing just yet, I pick the 1-ton up this weekend.

Thanks
Mark

Relocate the perches on the rear axle (out I believe). Have the rear driveshaft changed to accomodate the larger ujoint, consider doing a disc brake conversion on the 14FF.

The D60 will be a bolt in, except for the driveshaft; will need to modify the front shaft.

I assume with the large axles you will be lifting it and/or running large tires?

Will the transfer cases be the same between a 1/2T and a 1-ton ?

Thanks

Doubt it. The K30 should have an NP205, the K10, K20 should sport an NP208.

Just relocate the spring perches on the 14, the 60's are already correct. Yes, the 1 ton should have a 205, and the K5 could have a dana 20, NP-203,205,208,241 depending on it's year.

Thank you, I was waiting from one of out resident K5-fixer-upers to help me out there. As soon as I read your post I remembered that you're working on the same monster, a K5 with 30 axles. How is that going, got any pics?

Re: 85 k5 1-ton axle install ??

I've still been buying parts, os I have not actually tore into it as of yet. I figure this way I can still drive it to work vs. having it all torn down in the driveway. I don't have a whole lot more to buy, but I'm getting the shopping bordom blues... I guess theres only so long you can look at parts before you don't feel like looking anymore. I'll probably be getting some stuff soon, and hopefully will be starting on it shortly after. I'm ready to get started on it.
