newer body on older frame???

Has anyone ever put a newer style body (88 to 98) on a (73 to 87) rolling chassis?? I have a 79 2500 long bed.
Any advice would be helpful..

Thanks in advance

I'm sure that with enough time, money and skills you can do it. I've never seen it done.
Why not just get a newer truck and put a solid front axle under it? That seems like an easier route to me.

the frames are different. but anything can be done. don't look for an easy bolt on. you would be building the truck from the frame up.

It can be done. A guy around here has done it. I havent seen it up close, all I know he did was make new body mounts cause the newer body style mounts are a lot wider then old ones. Im sure there is more to it than that.

Re: newer body on older frame???

Thanks for the input..
The reason I asked about the new body on old frame is because that truck is the most dependable veh. I own..
plus I put alot of money into the drivetrain. brakes, exhaust.. you name it.. I just need a body.. I love the gen. of trucks maybe, I should try to just find a donor body.

thanks for the reply

that would be a cool swap. although it is alot of work. if you have time time, the skill, and the money it would be an interesting project.
