Question?

Would anyone here rather drive a gas-saving import than a gas guzzling truck? I never would. I drive my GMC over my beretta anyday, even though i use almost 6 gallons to school and back. When you drive a truck, there's just nothing like it....when i'm in my car, i just feel like everyone else...and it's horribly under-powered. When i drive the GMC, i feel like i can take on anything, go anywhere(I've never gotten stuck....yet), and it still has enough power to take on a camaro that's 16 years younger than the beast. That's what i call badass.

Re: Question?

That is tough. I have an 81 Jimmy and an 86 Samurai. I love to drive them both. The Jimmy with a brand new 350 crate motor averages about 12.4 mpg. I have a 2.73 rear end and have gotten 13.46 out of it. My Zuki gets 21 to 25 mpg and sometimes if I am real good, I can get 27 out of it.

You could always swap an older 12V Cummins or other diesel in there and have the best of both worlds (still driving a truck, and getting fuel mileage more in line with small imports)...

Re: Question?

I have an 86 Samurai with a VW diesel and I get 29mpg on 31s. I am a truck guy but I do enjoy the Samurai. I enjoy my YJ even more and am planning a diesel conversion in the next couple of years, followed by the sale of the Samurai. And I am currently seeking a mid 80s diesel Suburban to replace my pickup.

Within the next couple of months, I will have a biodiesel processor running and I will be driving all of my vehicles on 50 cent/gal non petrolium fuel AND getting that domestic truck feeling.
