Re: which winch

I have a 12K Milemarker Hydraulic Winch, on my Hummer. I've used it several times and it was a blessing to have! You'll know the value of a winch when you really need one and don't have one.

Re: which winch

I'm partial to Mile Marker, but it's also the only brand I've ever had any experience with. I would say that with winches, you get what you pay for. Go too cheap, and you may end up with a stuck truck and a burnt up winch.

Re: which winch

do you realy need a huge $1500 bumper to mount it to or can you mount it to the frame under the existing bumper?

Re: which winch

You can make a custom mount to put it under or behind the bumper. Somebody here made a hidden mount behind the bumper quite a while back. You can also put a 2" receiver on the front, then you can put the winch on only when you need it.

Re: which winch

Warn has the best rep among the wheeling community. Milemarker is ok, dont know many people that have them. Ramsey is another that has been around for a long time with a good rep.

Go electric. Most of the time the engine will be running so it will be charging the battery while you pull, but in the case that it isnt, you can still use the winch. You cant with a hydraulic.

Take options into consideration when deciding what winch to buy and get the one that is right for you.
