Pride

I'm 16, live in Iowa, and am one of only a few kids who drive trucks at my high school. My friend and i are the only two who go out and wheel, and know anything about automobiles. I take pride in my rusty, loud(i can be heard from 8 blocks away), and weather beaten 1978 GMC K15. My friends call me trashy for driving it, but they drive their parents old cars, which are like late 90's cars. I take pride in my truck, because i own it, and it wasn't my parents before i got it. My truck has a 6.6 liter 400 ci small block, so i can go out and mud, but come back and kick their ass in a race. Does anyone else take pride in their old truck?

Re: Pride

don't worry. way back in the days of high school only about 10 people 4 wheeled in my class. which i guess was a lot, but i live in a red neck area. people gave me us all crap too. mostly because we had trucks that were built up a little, and they had hand me down soccer commuters.

Re: Pride

yeah, with my built 400 i get about 7 miles to a gallon, which sucks when i live in the back country of a town of less then 300 people, and the school is 15 miles away, and our school definately has a lot of redneck kids. o well. a few days ago one of my friends in his mom's old Grand Am was makin fun of me about how ****ty gas mileage i get, and how bad my truck looks(not my fault rust and mud and attracted to my truck....well, the mud part is), so i challenged him to a race...beat his little hand me down so bad..he drove a straight line up a hill on the road, while i took the off-road version, which is about a 50 degree slope, he doesn't talk much **** anymore.

Now he's got respect for the beast
