Re: 90 gmc jimmy

the second idea is actually the one GM puts in the owners manual for jimmy's/Blazers.

all you need is a 1/2 socket or open end wrench too take it off, and its really easy for two people to take it off, i put mine in the grass behind my house

also you cant slide it off you have to lift because theres studs, to center the topper, on the back

Re: 90 gmc jimmy

Topless is the way to go....unless it is in the winter! With mine I took it off and on several times before removing it for good. The are probably right around 150 to 200 lbs as mentioned and to awkward to do by yourself. Two people, no problem. There are like 5 or 6 1/2" bolts attaching the front to the cab area and another 4 or 5 down each side connecting it to the bed top. There is a stud in the back as mentioned that you have to lift up and over. Also make sure the window is down and you detach the wiring for interior lights if you have them. They are pretty sturdy, but i did end up cracking mine removing it once. But then again, I was by myself by just flipped it off on it's back.
