What came with a 14 bolt rear with 6 lug pattern?

Been tossing around the idea of swapping out my 10 bolt for a 14 bolt rear end. I believe there was some Chevy's that came with a 14 bolt rear with a 6 bolt wheel pattern. Can anyone verify this? what models and years?

There are 14b SF axles that are 6 lug. I'm just not sure what year they started using them.... they were available in 1/2 ton trucks that had the heavier equipment option. I'm sure if you searched around here there is probably some mention of them, I know it's been brought up before in the past, and probably mentions the years they were available etc.

Re: What came with a 14 bolt rear with 6 lug pattern?

They were found in heavy duty half tons (common) and light duty 3/4 tons (rare).

They were pretty common in 88-98 body styled 1/2 ton trucks with extended cab/shortbox and the towing package.

It's actually easier to find them in 96-up 3/4 ton Savannas/Expresses with the 7300lb GVW (RPO C6A).

1988 - End of OBS trucks. They were in light duty 2500s for sure; and heavy half tons. The heavy half tons had to have the Z71 RPO, as well as another one...like F77 or something (had to do with heavy chassis/suspension), I don't remember. If you search the archives though, it's in there.

wrath, in my area the LD-2500s aren't all that rare. I see a few each week. Not all are duplicates either.

Well, around here the 8 lug 14SF is found in most 3/4 tons. Not sure why. The 6 lug ones are dime a dozen in the extended cab shortbox ones though.

Re: What came with a 14 bolt rear with 6 lug pattern?

dwaters, lol...no I do not work in a junk yard. I wish...then I might have my D60F/14FF combo that I am seeking. HERE is the craptacular website for the company I work for. Anywhere from $500-$1250 in the wrecking yards for a 6-lug 14sf. Got the prices HERE. We picked up an '84 K2500 that has an 8-lug 14sf for $400, so maybe find a truck someone is parting out and get one, then drop 6-lug shafts in if you need to.

wrath, I think it is because that in 1981 when GM changed the bodystyle slightly they were out to shave weight off of the trucks, to make them more economical. Thusly all the 2500s that didn't have a heavy suspension package (like the Camper Specials) got the 9.5" 14SF.

thanks much. That car-part.com site is great.

Did any of these 14 bolts come with anything other than just the standard limited slip?

8 lug 14 sf axles are very common here while youd be hard pressed to find one in 6 lug
