1 ton in a K5

I was wondering what changes need to be made to get my new (86?) 1 Ton 14 bolt in my 1988 K5. It has a 350/th700r4/np208 and came with a 10 bolt. Thanks for any help.

Re: 1 ton in a K5

All you should have to do is relocate the spring perches, and get a conversion U joint to fit your stock shaft and the 14's 1350 yoke.

If the 14bFF came out of a 3/4 ton, then you should not even have to move the spring perches.

The 1 ton had the very large drums (13"), and the 3/4 have a smaller drum.

Then all you'll need to do is find a D60 for the front so you'll have a true 1 ton. I hope to get my D60/14bFF in pretty soon... detroit lockers at both ends... woo hoo.

The one ton rears also have the shock mounts on the wrong sides, so you will have to move them also.
