1989 full sized blazer TBI stalling

Just got a new toy. New cap and rotors, plugs and wires. It will stall immediatley or wait until you are on teh road for 10 minutes-no warning. Got juice to the fuel pump, and coil. Fuel pressure was about 25-30 psi on an inline check. Its getting spark. It will start up and get a good cone fuel down the TBI an dthen just shut off for no reason-no sputtering-just dies. Where should I start looking. The guy said he had a new fuel pump put in 1 year ago-seems like good pressure. Someone mentioned an ignition module? Did they have them this year?

Any help appreciated

Is the check engine light on? If so, you could see what code it is throwing and that will give you a place to start.
I had a similar problem and it was the EGR valve. Plenty of fuel and spark, but the EGR was full open at low RPM and that made it stall.

Do you lose spark when it dies? IE, can you get spark immediately after it shuts off? Just pop the hood real quick and stick another spark plug in the spark plug boot and ground it out on the hood spring so you can crank while watching it.

I had a similar problem with a TBI. I also seem to remember getting a code. I removed the TBI, and found lots of carbon build up under the gasket. I cleaned all the carbon build up, which was mostly from the EGR passage, and installed a new gasket. I seem to remember the carbon build up caused a problem with the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve, so I cleaned it also. It only cost me about 1 1/2 hours of cleaning and about $8.00 for a gasket. Maybe that's all you need to do?

Let's hope you don't need an ECM, because I've also seen a similar problem that needed an ECM to fix the stalling problem. In that TBI problem there was no code. When the engine stalled there was no spark, and the injectors did not fire. Remanufactured ECM's are priced about $100, maybe less.
