14 bolt axles

My friend has a parts 1979 k25 (3/4 ton) GMC and it has a 14 bolt axle that he will sell me, and I was wondering if it has a 9.5, 10.5, or 11.5 inch ring gear, does anybody know?

My 78 GMC K2500 has the same 14 bolt, and its a 10.5" ring gear. Great axle!

Re: 14 bolt axles

easiest way to tell between then is too look for large hubs hanging out from the middle of the wheel. The 10.5" is full sloating so it has its own bearing hub to run on whereas the 9.5" 14 bolt is semi floats where the axle shaft is what holds all the weight and has a C clip that holds the shaft into the housing. the 14FF is very stought, I have only broke mine once

Make sure you get the same number of lug holes. Other wise you will have to buy his wheels and then hope you don't get a flat.
