TH350 - how to tell if its a lockup

I've got a tranny I bought already pulled, so I'm not sure what year of truck it came out of. I do have the torque converter with it, so that's not the problem. I don't know if its a lockup or not? If so is there something I need to hook up for this, wire up for example? I'm swapping this to fit behind a mid-70s 350 in a jeep, so I'm not even sure how I would go about doing this. I really don't even know what a lockup is, I'm just covering my bases before I realize I should have done something before its too late. Any insight into this?

Re: TH350 - how to tell if its a lockup

the lockup works kinda like a manually tranny in the effect that the converter locks up so there is no slippage between the engine and tranny. Usually the lockup is triggered by a vacuum switch the runs through a brake swith too before going to the tranny... making sure that if the brakes are engaged it unlocks otherwise the engine would stall as if you slammed on the brakes in a manually tranny truck without pushing the clutch in.
