A/C Pressure Switch

Is there a quick and easy way to check whether or not my A/C pressure switch is working?
I think that either the switch is bad, or there isn't enough pressure to kick it on.
Also, the only size cans of R134 I can find are 12oz, is that equal to 1 pound? I know normal weights and measures 16oz = 1 pound.
The book says my truck takes 5.25 lbs.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: A/C Pressure Switch

unplug the connector and put a little jumper wire to the two little prongs in there (on the wire connector side of course not the pressure swith) This will complete the loop and bypass the switch. Run your ac on max and see if it gets cold, if not, its your freon, if it does get cold then the pressure switch is out. Good luck

Re: A/C Pressure Switch

Thanks. When I did that, an o-ring blew at the back of the compressor and R134 shot everywhere.
I'll replace the o-ring and switch today.
