lift and engine Q. on 81\' SB

Alright, I'm looking at buying an 81' Chevy 4x4 SB, w/ a 75' Pontiac 400 motor in it. The truck is in fair condition, considering i need to re-install the A/C system, part of the dash and misc. exterior items like door locks and mirrors, removed to perform one of the worst paint jobs I've seen in some time. Oh, and the front drive shaft, owner removed to try and save on gas. But those are things I can live with. The truck runs well and for $1000 sounds like a good deal. What I would like to know is does anyone see any problems the Pontiac motor could cause me, normal wear and tear aside. It has a 2" lift, with blocks in the rear and 32"s. If I buy it I would like to put a set of 33"s on it and a different lift. I don't like blocks and would prefer a different type of lift, any advice on a good soft ride suspension in the 2-4" range (this truck will be jumped at times, so no body lifts either). I would also plan on limited slip or lockers front and rear, and eventually a 3:1 low range. Money permitting. Well any and all advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I think the engine falls into the Buick-Olds-Pontiac type, which would mean the transmission bellhousing bolt pattern is different than your standard GM.
Most people prefer the Tuff Country EZ ride suspension. Check out their website for more info, or look at somewhere like offroaddesign.com.

most people I know prefer the Skyjacker lift actually.

I'm not buying the reason he pulled the front drive shaft, with the hubs unlocked that shaft never moves. I would make sure there isn't a bigger reason behind the front shaft being out.

It probably has full-time four wheel drive, so instead of putting hubs on it, the owner probably took the driveshaft out.
