bigger tires rubbing

I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 2wd and just put on some aggressive tread 285 75 R16 tires and after some modifications to the rubber under the fender wheel, there is a bracket that is rubbing on both the left and right side only on hard turns. Is there a way to correct this problem other than smaller tires?
