grease zert knocked off, what to do?

I think a grease zerk on a front drive shaft got knowcked off. The zerk was in teh middle of the shaft (the hollow part) and am wondering if I need to like tap the hole and put another zerk in? What does it keep greased? Thanks in advance.

The front shaft is actually 2 pieces. One slides in and out of the other as the suspension cycles, so the grease keeps everything there lubricated.
You may be able to see the inner protion of the zerk still in the threads. If so, you can get a small screw extractor, it looks almost like a backwards drill bit, and take remove it.
