1979 Jimmy lift
I have a 1979 Jimmy and brand new Big O M/T tires 35x12.50R15 I am thinking of a 3" body lift for now and would like to know if the tires will turn without rubbing. I would also like to know what else i will have to modify, for example: steering column? Clutch rod? What else???
Any help would be appreciated. I need to go mud racing and the season is almost here.

Re: 1979 Jimmy lift
It will depend on the backspacing/size of your rims. But my opinion is to skip the BL and get a suspension lift, 4" will clear fine wiht a little bit of trimming.

Re: 1979 Jimmy lift
I put the tires on any ways. I couldn't wait any longer, they were just sitting in my shop collecting dust. They are 35x12.50r15 Big O M/T tires on 8" factory GM white spoke wheels. They bolted right on to my stock 1979 Jimmy all it took was a wee bit of trimming on the front fenders. No lift required they clear no problem. Took about 2" of the the front and back of the front fenders. Looks great. Now all i need is a 4:10 gear set for the front if anyone knows where i can find one. I am also gonna do the 4" or 6" suspension lift in the near future if anyone has any tips they would be appreciated.

Re: 1979 Jimmy lift
I'd keep it low and do a 2.5 or 4" if you want to cut. Keeps the Center of gravity low, and it makes it look sweet.

Make sure you get high quality springs, with wear or anti-friction pads. I got what I thought were good springs, but they make my truck ride way too stiff. I've heard the pads make a big difference. Greg
