Simple question I hope. Is going from a GM 10 bolt to a Dana 44 a straight swap? The dana 44's were on a 3/4 ton pickup.

If you keep your calipers, yes.

Re: dana 44

I'm thinking about making the swap. From what I understand (which is limited) the dana 44 is a stronger axle than the GM 10 bolt. Do you agree?

Re: dana 44

It may be a tiny bit stroger, but a new 10 bolt can be stroger than a old d44, thats how negligable it will be

Re: dana 44

The 44 is some what stronger. Was the 10 bolt a 3/4 ton? If not, the widths will be different. The 3/4s are a few inches wider.
