Newb Question - Driveshaft Lengthening...

I know it's a good idea, but is driveshaft lengthening REQUIRED for a 6" lift on a K5?

Thanks,
Neil

You can probably drop your t-case and shim your axle so that there isn't vibrations as ride height, but if your suspension moves you will probably have vibrations.

If you correct your driveline angles then yes, you're pushing it. Even me, being a cheap bastard, would do something about the driveshaft. It's probably cheaper to go buy a K10 driveshaft and have it cut down than it is to have yours retubed.

Re: Newb Question - Driveshaft Lengthening...

Rear driveshafts are relatively cheap to get lengthened (or the K10 one shortened). It sucks to spend the money, but if you want to wheel in, you don't want it to slip out and break, that can get expensive really fast. I got a good shaft in my jeep, 49 willys, 35s and 350hp (which should eat driveshafts) and it was my best purchase yet because it hasn't broke. If you can, spend the money.
