engine cutting out

i have a 400 small block in my 82 chevy pickup. when i step on the gas hard it cuts out. if i ease onto the gas this doesn't happen. ive adjusted the timing and rebuilt the carbureter but still have this problem. i was wondering if anyone has any idea as to what could be causing this

too much fuel? see if it is dumping too much in under hard acceleration(or attempt at). Might need your carb adjusted.

My GMC with the 350 and edelbrock 600 does the same thing. I've tried adjusting the timing with no luck, so my advice also would be in adjusting the carb. I've gotten mine close to not doing it with the adjustment kit I bought. When I start driving it in the spring I'll probably take it to someone though and have them do it.
