Re: swamper irok

Im with Wrath if you have a good body why not just do a 2 or 4 inch suspension lift and 33 or 35 inch tires to get a nice look with still alot streetable of ability

Re: swamper irok

normally I would be with you guys but I happen to enjoy
the big trucks I have 2 w/ 44s and 1 w/ 39.5s
also my situation is different I travel for a living
and am only home about 50-75 days a year
so road manners don't bother me near as much as
someone who drove their truck daily

Re: swamper irok

I second the 35's. That should look sweet though, thats an awesome color, with some chrome wheels/bumpers etc. that can be a clean looking pavement pounder.

Re: swamper irok

Why not just run your "big trucks" then?

Tires bigger than 38s are not street friendly. You've got 100+lb tires that don't want to stop spinning. You've got more than one and a half times more sidewall than wheel that promotes body roll. Your vehicle is so tall it promotes instability. It's just plain a danger to the people around you. Not to mention you probably won't meet the requirements set by law.

The whole idea of driving something around like that scares me and then saying it's going to be a PLQ makes it even worse. I think willyswanter is crazy to be running those huge tires on the road but he has the benefit of having another few feet of wheelbase than me and very little lift. Other than it probably doesn't stop for [bleep] his truck is probably more stable than mine is with my winter tires on it.

Anyway, you'd need no less than 10" of lift with fender trimming. Otherwise you'll hit the cab. I don't know how much lift you'd need without trimming. It'd be a lot. Nobody in our club runs more than 12" of lift so I can't even guess how high you'd have to go.

Re: swamper irok

thanks I had a truck in high school w/ 21 1/2"
of lift and I may go with something close to that but
a much better design. You were talking about scary
that thing was a nitemare to drive

Re: swamper irok

If it was scary to drive then why do it.
Step out of the 80s! Your leaf springs should NOT look like semi circles, you should NOT run 1 foot lift blocks front and rear, and don't even think about lowering your spring mounts and running some 16" long shackles.
Street rig, run 35s, maybe 37s if you just have that kinda complex thar requires you to have a bigger truck than everyone else.
Remember, small lift, fender trimming, low center of gravity is whats in now, not chrome leaf springs and 6 shocks per corner.
