Truck For Sale...Should I Buy?

The elevator where I work is selling a 1980 Chevy K20. It has a Dana 44, 14FF, NP 205 and I havent crawled underneath yet but its either a 350 or 400 tranny and I have no clue on the motor other then it is a V8, the body is shot. Is it worth 500 for the Axles and Transfer Case. I have no real need for a motor at this point nor a transmission. The axles could go under my truck and the 205 could wait until I get a 203 so I could slap a doubler under my truck. What would you guys do? I am saving for a newer truck seeing as I can tell my car is on its last legs, so money is somewhat tight.

Re: Truck For Sale...Should I Buy?

Well, is there a point to spending 500 on the axles for your truck even though your dad won't let you put a lift on it or bigger tires? Why not buildup the other truck for wheeling...

You can fit 33's stock

I would still turn the other truck into a trail truck... Just keep your truck like it is and buy this other truck and just make it a junker/trail truck.

Its temping but Im not so sure I need a trail rig around here...and there are thoughts in my Head about a full Tubframe Rig...

My leaf springs are all shot so I need new ones and I would just as soon lift it 2 inchs and throw on some 33s.

Re: Truck For Sale...Should I Buy?

I wouldn't buy it. It isn't that great of a deal, and who knows when you'll get around to using the parts. Money is tight, and there are better things to spend your cash on. That's my two cents...
