how much of a lift do i need

i am about to puchase a 1979 chevy 3/4 4x4 with a 350 what and i was wondering how many inch lift will i need to stuff 35's under it, and will i need to change the gears in it. also what are the best 35's for under 150 bucks a tires for mud . one more question what is the best way to wter proof a disrtubtor. 6" with little to no trimming
4" wiht trimming
No lift if you want to hack the hell out of your truck

What I did was pull the cap off, and run a bead of silicone/caulk around the bottom of the cap, where it meets the distributor body. That's it, works really well [img]images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] here is a picture of how jeff done it.

yea 4" depending on the back spaceing of the wheels, and if you flex it alot or just mud it or have a stiff suspension, you might not even trimming with 4" [img]images/graemlins/beach.gif[/img]
