Oil?

Im up here at college and the only Oil i have is 15w-40...will it hurt my truck if i top it off with that. It is Rotella T for deisel motors. The thing I am worried about is the fact that I have Sae 30 in the motor right now...will it hurt anything if I mix weights of oil? I can get some 30 when i got back home next weekend. I am just worried about this week. Because I am a quart or more low and I will prolly travel in excess of 150 this week.

Re: Oil?

wow, 30 weight, in cold weather, i run the 10w-40 when it gets cold i use 20w50 and when my motor turns over like a reallbitch (slow) i put the 10w-40 in it, works, i put some 10w40 in my 20w50 when it was a bit low and i didnt have any 20w50 laying around, i dont think it is like mixing differnt blood types, haha, like put 15w40 negitive in with 30 weight positive and having major oil sludgeing, i belive you will be fine. Re: Oil?

yea, wer gettin a heat wave back in, it was nice for a while, we had our first frost and cold cold weather, it was nice for a while, then all of the sudden i see 50's for a low and 70''s for a high, which is still nice tho, but it just seems a bit high.

Re: Oil?

Haha, dorms do suck. At least you are allowed to have your truck though. Freshman don't get permits here.....

I just had to work some connections to park at a friend's appartment off campus, but its like a 15 min bike ride if i push it, so its a bitch. And if i have to park 5 min by the dorm during the week its $6 permit. A friend of mine parked for 10 min and got a $30 ticket......

But the good thing is my truck is here

Re: Oil?

Straight 30 is damn near impossible to find.

It's actually just about as hard as finding non-detergent oil these days.

Re: Oil?

Only reason it is available at home is because we buy it by the 5 gallon bucket from the Conoco guy. My truck is gettin parked for the winter next week anyway...I just need soemthin to get me through this week till i go home friday. I can get the ****ty straight 30 at Kum and Go but it doesnt have a good enough level of quality for deisels
