02 Body on 73 Frame is it possible?

I got a 73 3/4 ton. Chevy and right now it has a 87 body on it. I want to put a 2002 cab and box on my frame. Does any one know if it will work?

If you want to do it so you have a the solid axle, it would be cheaper and easier to put the axle in, rather than swapping cabs, not to mention will look like crap with the gas tanks showing, and all the frame being exposed.

Actually Drey, I think they go by the body on the year. So, it probably would have to meet emissions. It would probably fall into some sort of "2002 special vehicle" or something. I think that the way they see it is; whatever the cab is, that's what the vehicle is.

here in Idaho it would be emissions exempt, we go by frame first ( I love this state )

IF huh? I'm from Pocatello. Oh, and by the way, what's an emissions test? I too love this state. Oh, and for those of you that care (or even remember) my frame up rebuild is almost complete. So far the list includes: New built 350, 6 in. Tuff Country full spring, and full frame off with new cab (old one was rusted out). It's getting sprayed today. Still saving for the TSL's and custom front bumper. I'll try to get some pics up later this week. Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the post, just excited to be getting close to driving it again!

Re: 02 Body on 73 Frame is it possible?

I am in michigan and where I live we dont have emissions test to get plates. So I dont have to worry about emissions. Does any one know where I can get the specs for the 2002 chevy frames. I got the specs for the 73 frame and want to know how much different they are? I am trying to figure out how much frame you would see. My frame has been sandblasted and painted black with an epoxy primer and clear coated so I dont care if you see some frame.
