transfercase probs

first off im new 2 this,but i htink my transfercase is goin south.its poppin out of gear sometimes not always(the transfercase)when i put it in reverse it pops.sounds like chain.its an new process 208 case.is this a good case or would it be better to get a different one.how hard would it be to rebuild.its an 84 jimmy with 350 which has had an th350 installed in place of the overdrive tranny.any replys would be greatly appreciated.

Pull the cover off and remove the plate that controls where the lever goes. Drive it around like this and see if it continues to pop out of gear. If it doesn't then it is a linkage issue.

Since it used to have a 700R4 in there this would be my first guess anyway.

thanks.it is kind of hard to get in to gear.the shifter doesnt stick that far out the floor.someone has put a body lift on it would this effect it.when its in 4 wheel the line on the gear indicator isnt quite rite on the 4lo line.hope this is whats wrong.thanks for the input.

I figured as much. You'll be spending some time adjusting things.

Pull the cover off (takes four screws) and you'll understand why you're having problems.

that was the problem but now i broke it for good.i herd it pop ,i tested it by doin a burnout in the dirt.that means its broke rite.you wouldnt be able to do that if it was working.were would you buy a new or rebuilt one at.and would it be much more to upgrade or is this a good case.my trusk has 35s on it now.i plan on taking the body lift off and doin more suspension work.thanks for the input again,
