I put on headman headers, and now they are leaking I think by the head. Problem is is that it's a pain to get a wrench in there to tighten the bolts down any more. I have to use the open end of the wrench it's so tight. Are there thicker gaskets that I could use, or any suggestions how to torque those bolts down better??
Go buy a crow's foot. They're those tools that look like you cut off an open-ended wrench and then put a square hole in it for a 3/8" extension bar. You can buy a whole set from Sears for not much. Wally-world might even have a set.
I had exhaust leak problems with regular header gaskets until I switched to copper header gaskets and aluminum collector gaskets. Tightend the header gaskets twice and no more exhaust leaks. You might have to know your exhaust port measurements when you go to order. That's what works for me.
I ended up using 2 ultra seal gaskets from Mr. Gasket on each side. That stopped my leak. As for tightening up the bolts I took an extra box end wrench I had and ground the outside edge off just enough to get the wrench on those hard to get bolts. Hope this helps
