Tailgate conversion (I Hope!)

Has anyone done a tailgate to rear door swap on a Suburban? My '79 Burb has a tailgate, but I have access to a '78 with doors. I'd love to do the swap, but it looks like it might be more involved than just unbolting parts. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Tailgate conversion (I Hope!)

yes it is much more complicated ...... requires drilling out spot welds and welding ..... anyway my burb had the ambulance doors and they SUCK ..... major blind spot ... just take the mirror off the windshield cause it will be worthless and if you ever haul something really long you'll need rope to keep the doors from swinging and you really want a gate when you're putting heavy stuff in the back and you smash your shin on the hitch damn damn damn
