The tiny hole in my TH350

Have a question about my TH350. There is little hole (approximately 8mm diameter) just below speedo gear and the output shaft. The oil in my TH350 comes out of this hole. What kind of hole is it? It causes the oil from my TH350 to leak into my D300 x-fer case. What will happen, if I just block the hole?

I don't know what would happen.I assume you have an A/A adapter? I think the bearing in the adapter relies on trans fluid for lubrication. There is a seal on the t/c side in the d-300 bearing retainer. I can't see what type of seal is in mine, but in my experience this should be a double lipped seal or two seals back to back to prevent fluid from migrating in either direction.
