Built a hand throttle today

I have the 1 ton axles pretty much completely installed, just have to do the steering, rear driveshaft, and order some tires. I had all day today to kill so I decided to build the hand throttle for which I've had the parts for about 3 years. Yeah, so the mount for the lever is a little booty-fab, but it works real nice! More pics here.

Looks nice. A guy I knew back in the day used a bike brake lever but his he had to connect it and disconnect the foot when he wanted to use it. Yours looks really good

He should have very low gears with the 6.?:1 granny gear and 5.13s.

Re: Built a hand throttle today

66:1 crawl ratio isn't too bad, but the hand throttle is not so much for crawling as it is to bump the throttle up when the York is engaged. Will also make it easier to start the truck moving on steep hills if I have to restart it. Easier this way than trying to grow the third leg. b

When you're in 4 low and the granny on the 465 the brake is used very very rarely.

Re: Built a hand throttle today

hehe, my wife threw that in the truck one day for some reason, I had it on the dash for awhile but the sun was destroying it so I zip tied it to the shifter. It's as much a part of the truck as the transmission itself now, it just wouldn't feel right without the cow. . Heh, very nice, hand throttles are cool, with welders and compressors and such, or making your truck drive around by itself...
