205 replacement gears

hey, does anyone know if there is a gear replacement set for the NP205 that can get a better reduction than the stock 1.96? (kinda like the samuri crawler kits, but for the 205) thanks

Yes there is, well, will be. Off Road Design's Stephen Watson is working on them right now and they should be available pretty soon. It's a 3:1 set.

Yeah, like Willy's said or your other option might be to go with a doubler and put a 203 infront of the 205 and get almost 4:1 low range. www.offroaddesign.com sells those too or you can have a machine shop make the adaptors too.

Re: 205 replacement gears

Stephen Watson is not making these gears, he would only be a distributor, if and when they ever become available. I think it is JB Conversions that said they are working on it, but I wouldn't hold my breath for this to ever materialize. Go doubler if you want a better crawler.

Re: 205 replacement gears

the doubler was what i was thinking. That is a genious design there, i gotta hand it to them. I happen to have almost all the parts as well, so that can be my summer project i guess I definately have to get beffier driveshafts, because i let my girlfriend drive the truck, and she somehow dumped the clutch in "L". YEAH that snaped the rear slip yoke right in half, like it was a little toothpick. I didnt think that a piece of cast iron would snap before the rest of it did. Oh well, i fixed it though......

Re: 205 replacement gears

Wagoner has a 3:1 for the 203, which you could then bolt in front of a 205 for 6.2:1 overall reduction!
