Flywheels, BBC and SBC...

There was a TH350 in my mudder, with a 366 BBC. I want to install this SM465 (when I get it) and a 350 SBC is in that truck. Are the flywheels interchangeable or is one weighted? What about size, so my starter still works?

Re: Flywheels, BBC and SBC...

Automatics have a flexplate....which is much skinnier and lighter than a flywheel...no they're not interchangable. For one thing, you can't bolt a clutch to a flexplate. I'm sure any flywheel w/o counterweights will work, as only the 454 was externally balanced if I recall.

Re: Flywheels, BBC and SBC...

Thankyou I always forget the word Flexplate! What I am saying is can I use the flywheel off the 350 and put it in my 366? my doubt is that one may be externally balanced (more likely the 366)
