Body swappin.....

How tough is it to put a 91 truck body on an 86 truck frame? The 91 is an extended cab short bed and the 86 is a 1 ton long bed.

Thanks,

Bryan

Re: Body swappin.....

i dont know how hard it would be, nor do i know if anyone on here has done it, mostly difficulty would be determined by hard easy you can fab things up, such as body mounts in this case

Re: Body swappin.....

You'll find nothing lines up. The 88up frame is 3" or so wider than the 67-87. If I remember correctly you'll also have problems with the tires sitting in the middle of the holes but I'm not as sure about extended cab shortbox as I am standard cab longbox of the 88-98 generation.

Why do you want to take the body off and put it on the other frame? The 88-9? frame was actually supposed to be stronger than the old frames.
