Bellhousing inspection cover damage???

Ok, this is the second time this has happened to me under the SAME circumstances; driving too fast thru a water hole -my mistake both times

Damage to the top section of the inspection cover such that a section of the metal was folded in and rattling off the end of the crankshaft. This is right up there in between the oil pan and the bellhousing, and this is the second time it has happened so I don't think it was some foreign object that caused it.

Anyone got any ideas how this keeps happening to me?? This ever happened to anyone else???

Not like it is hard to fix, or hazardous, but it is a PITA holding the group up while I bend the cover straight.

Thanks for any insight.

Re: Bellhousing inspection cover damage???

This happened a couple weekends ago to me in similar circumstances, 4 feet of water, giving her hell to get out and the cover came off and let copius amounts of water to ruin my clutch, i to am looking for a good fix, all i can think of is to reinforce with flat stock and silicone it on.

Yes the flat part of sheet metal that screws into the bottom of the bellhousing, makes a noise like a piece of thin tin bouncing off a rotating object.
