Axle Swap Problem

Hi, i have a Blazer 75 (K5), and i broke my Front Axle Dana 44, and i change it, When the Work was done, i notice that the Left Wheel (Diver side) was 4´´ outside the Truck, and the Right one was ``Normal´´.

Is that normal??
Some people told me thats normal in GM trucks.

I cant move the Axle To the right because the Springs hit the Difetential

The ``new´´ HOUSING was the same as the original, I personaly Check it!

Thanks for your help of coments!

Re: Axle Swap Problem

No, it's not normal.

Measure the distance from the wheel mounting surface to the frame. It should be the same for both sides.

GM trucks are 1.5" wider on each side in the front than the back though. In other words, the front track is 3" wider than the back track.

Re: Axle Swap Problem

was the new axles a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton axle? I *think* 3/4 tons were a tad wider too but don't hold me to it

Re: Axle Swap Problem

Was this axle out of a dodge or another make? All GM front axles are the same width and a bolt in swap. This goes for 10bolts, D44's, and D60's. You could even swap in the 2.5 ton axles from the 40's GM 6X6 military trucks. The spring perches are all the same. The only diferences on the swaps would be u-bolts and the spring plates and brake lines on some models.

Re: Axle Swap Problem

Nope, it was the same Dana 44.

I know this because i re-use one Axle Shaft (Right side), the ring& pinion, and the Differential Cover.
