Ignition cut-off

How can I rig up a switch to cut off the ignition system? One of my friends has a C-10, and when you turn the key to off, all the panel lights come on, but the motor keeps running. We have to stall it out with the transmission. So, I was wondering how you could rig up a simple switch to cut off the ignition.

Re: Ignition cut-off

You could wire a toggle switch into the 12V feed wire to the coil.

Re: Ignition cut-off

Sounds like he has a shorted out ignition switch, there should be a pink wire going to the coil from the ignition switch (12v supply in acc mode) when you turn the key off a properly operating ignition switch should stop current to the coil thus stopping the engine. My ignition switch was only $20 and it mounts on the steering column.
