OT: What\'s a NP205/SM465 combo worth?

How much is a NP205/SM465 twin-stick ready combination worth? There's a guy that's got one for sale for $250.

I've seen em going for about 150 for the combo, but 250 doesn't sound out of the ordinary, especially if its in good shape or has been gone through and repaired.

I haven't pursued it any further because my $300 of mad money might go towards a set of used tires this weekend. Do you happen to know what exactly modifying for twin-stick involves? I imagine it's modifying so you can operate two sets of shift forks so you can run front wheel drive but I don't know. I've never been inside of a transfer case.

If it were $150 I'd buy it and shelf it but I imagine he wants as much as he does for a reason. Plus, I really want some rubber with tread.

Thanks

I believe it involves removing the shift rails, doing a bit of grinding, and fabbing up two sticks to control the shift rails.

Check at CK5, there's been many a post on doing it.

I'd buy the tires personally. 250 isn't a great price, and you should be able to find them for that pretty easily.

I just sold set for 650 dollars...The twin stick is nothing more than changing the mount to operate each shaft independently...thus allowing 2lo 2hi 4lo 4hi

Re: OT: What\'s a NP205/SM465 combo worth?

Yeah, I did a search on it over there--I was originally going to post over there but I like the ORC crowd better... Twin stick doesn't seem like anything special to me. "It don't blow my skirt up none." It just seems like "something cool to do" to me, I can't see any practical application for it in my case.

I figured $250 was in the ballpark but I've seen them go for a lot less and a lot more and I was just wondering because someday I'd like to have either a SM465/NP205 or NV4500/NP205 combination in an off-road only truck. I really miss having a manual transmission but I don't want to butcher my truck to put one in.

There's a guy with a set of MTs for sale for $400 on Ford black 15x10 wagon wheels with only a couple thousand miles on them. He hasn't told me what brand they are (probably not a big name brand) but I'm hoping I can get them for $250-300 without the wheels. Hopefully I can go look at them tomorrow.

Thanks again
