axle question

i just picked up a gm parts truck. its a 77' k20. what axles are in this truck? i thought it was a 44 front and 60 rear. could the rear be a 14 bolt instead? if so whats the differance between the 14 bolt and a 60

Should be a D44 and 14FF.

D44 should have 44 stamped onto a lower gusset on the pumpkin(if the rear is a 60, it will have 60 stamped on a lower gusset).

14 bolt will obviously have 14 bolts on the cover and look like this:

14 bolt is bigger and stronger than a D60. Most say a D70 and a 14bolt are comparable axles.

would it be correct to say. a 77 k20 would have a 350, sm465 trans and a np205 transfer case. just want to make sure. havent pulled the truck out of the weeds yet.

<font color=green>If it's a manual then that should be the tranny and t-case, but the engine could be anything from a I-6 to a 454.
