gauge install , please advise

Would I be correct in assuming that on a 78 model 350 chev. engine, that the sending unit for a manual oil pressure gauge is between the 1st and 3rd spark plug, and the unit to install a manual water temp gauge is behind the carb. on the driver side of the distributor? I currently have "oh you dumb a$s lights" and want desperatly to install manuals. Any info. appreciated. Thanks,

Yew got them senders kun-fuzed boah! Et' der thang between th' plugs be the TEMP sender, and at' der liddle ol' thang what screws into the CAM OIL GALLERY back o' the deee-stribder is the ole press-r guage sender. You DO know that you can have BOTH idiot lights AND guages.....you DO know that? What yew do is put a "tee" under the oil sender to get a port to feed the add-on guage. For the new add-on temp guage you use the PLUGGED PORT that is on the OPPOSITE cylinder head and not being used fer anything.Well, now that we've solved that liddle problem, it's back out on the porch to set a spell and swig some of that good corn likker. Leroy and Caleb is a-comin' over later and we'll shoot us a mess o' possums to cook up. You know thet possum gravy jes' can't be beat!

Re: gauge install , please advise

Put my guages in a couple days ago..they seem to be working real good. I sure feel better now that I can see whats going on.

I do have another question though, What would be considered a "safe" oil pressure reading while at idle? (real low idle)
