Question

Question: Does advance adapters make an adaptor for a NV3500 to an NP208 case? Does anyone know how long an NV3500 is compared to an SM465? Incase no one know where I am goin with this, in an attempt to make my truck fast, I want a close ratio 4 speed, and an O/D is nice, and I know a truck isnt a race car for christ's sake, but its an idea I had and I think I can make work, and an idea that has me excited at 1:19 am, so this is why I ask. Any feedback appreciated thank you

<font color=green>Yeah, good idea, give up a bulletproof tranny with one of the best 1st gear ratios around for a close ratio 1/2 ton tranny so you can go fast in your truck.

Re: Question

Call them and ask. Not sure about the 208, but you may be able to hook it to a pass side 241 from a 89-91 blazer/ sub. The 3500 is a horrible truck tranny though. Get a 4500 or keep your current box. Another gear isn't going to make your truck any faster, it's just going to improve your milage.

Re: Question

If I swap a 4500 in, are the slave cylinder and clutch assembly compatible or will I need to replace those components? If I do that, I would want to get the later 4500 version. Also, my Advance adaptor catalog says that the NV4500 has a 12.375" case, and under NP208 and NP241 with orig. SM465, TH400, 4L80, cir.6 pattern, it says "Stock Adapter." Does that mean that I can use the one off of my 208?

Re: Question

Call advance adapters and ask them. They are the pros.

Re: Question

N3500's SUCK BALLS! Way to weak of a design, which is why GM (of the weak IFS fame) replaced it with the NV4500. Aren't you building a 454 up or something? If the BBC is going in that truck, don't even think of putting that NV3500 against it, you'd kill it fast. NV4500 if you are serious about doing the swap. Good low gear, can stand up to a BBC, and OD.

Re: Question

Alright now dammit, if there one thing to be learned from this post, its dont drink beer and make posts on Off-road.com After I got to some serious thinkin, I saw that the NV4500 is only .375" longer than the 465, and advance adaptors doesnt call for a new adaptor, and they have all the stuff that the swap calls for. SO, after careful deliberation with my inner self, I think that regearing the axles to about 4.10 or 4.56 and the NV4500 would be a wiser avenue of action. BUT, I want to keep my existing stick, boot and B&amp;M shifterhandle that I have in there now, because I love the look. So does anyone know how I might go and do that? Maybe I can cut it off and have the bottom of it tapped and threaded. Thanks for your feedback guys.
