Re: To All 6.2 and 6.5 Diesel Owners..................

The Military spec HMMWV's I work on get around 12-15MPG with 7.1989(3.73 in the diffs X 1.93 in the hubs) axle gears, no overdrive(TH400), and 36 or 37 inch tires depending on model. This is with either the 6.2L 150HP version or the 6.5L 160HP version. Haven't had our 6.5TD long enough to test drive it and figure out the mileage and top speed yet. Oh, the 12-15 is with 25psi -20 psi in the tires doing 65-70 on the freeway reving the hell out of the engine. And the truck weighs in around 6000lbs or so.

my '86 gets around 15mpg. its running stock 3.42's,jet t700,33's, has 278,000 miles on it and a leaky throttle shaft seal. It used to get 18mpg with 31's. The new tranny took 1-2mpg as did the tires.
