wire harness removal

What is the best way to remove the wire harness. I need to remove the fuse block and everything attached to it. It looks like the fuse block only comes out through the inside with the wires feeding through the firewall with it unless I just cut the wires. I have melted wires and they all need replaced anyway. I found a complete harness at a junk yard for $150. is that a good price? The only thing is the truck from that harness didn't have power windows and door locks and mine does. Has anyone ever replaced their wiring?

Re: wire harness removal

when i pulled a motor i just followed the wires and unplugged them wherever i could, as soon as they went past the fire wall.
you would probaboly be best off to get a "new" or another wireing harness and mach it up, mark which plug goes where or even plug in the new harness as you unplug the old one (from what you said i figure your replacing). MARK YOUR WIRES you will not remember every single one of them all though every plug is different.

to get the fuse block unpluged you have to pull out one little bolt, or screw, on the motor side of the firewall, then you can seperate the wires pull the box to the inside, and wires to the motor side.
