what kind of transfer case do I have?

Just bought a 78 chevrolet, short bed, 4x4, 350-4bb, automatic transmission, fulltime front locked hubs. I cant find a model number on the transfer case to tell me what type it is. I did however, find a number that reads 346321 *under that it reads* "4" *under that it reads something like 6748, and then in big bold letters "GM". These numbers are stamped on the case itself. Can anyone help me? Thanks,..My concern is that the I cant find the circular tag that should be there, leading me to believe that the case may/may not be original..?? I really dont know. This is the first time I have owned a truck like this.

Also, I don't think the cast cases has the ID ring. Those started with the 208. I think. And carried over wit the rest of the NP/NVG cases.

Re: what kind of transfer case do I have?

The two 203's that I have, have the tags. Also, the 205's all came with them.
What's the shift pattern?? That's a sure give away if it's a 203. SHould be Front to Back: Low Loc, Low, N, Hi, Hi Loc
