What gets you stuck?

Ok, now what are the top three limiting factors of your truck.

Mine would be.

1. approach/departure angles
2. traction aiding (aggresive tires, lockers)
3. ground clearance.

Seems to me that the lwb approach and departure angles keep getting me stuck.

I got burried on friday night on the banks of the river trying to go thru a little washout/stream ditch that I *thought* was pretty solid. Next thing I know my bumpers plowed into the opposite bank.

If I had a better approach angle I would not have gotten so badly stuck there, and me getting out of the ditch would have relied upon traction devices.

Lemme know what holds you back whatever it might be.

Re: What gets you stuck?

My 94 silverado with a 3" body lift and 33" tires I always seem to get hung up on the frame. Or high centered. In my brothers 96 ZJ he gets stuck cause of poor traction. He needs MTs and A rear locker.

Re: What gets you stuck?

Uh lets see.......

1. No Lockers Yet (welding rear soon)
2. Swampers Aren't Exactly Snow Tires (thinking about chains)
3. Inexperience (I'll admit it)

My approach and departure angles are around 70*-80* now and are staying that way, so no worries there.

Ground clearance shouldn't be too much of a problem, but I am palling on a belly pan.

Also, my carb doesn't like steep angles, so that may have to be fixed.

Anway, when I get the flatbed done with all the parts, I'll just weld the rear and save for a winch and I should be good to go for a while.

Re: What gets you stuck?

Yeah, when I get back to vancouver I should have a logger box (like the boxes at www.bruzerbox.com) waiting for me. And I'll sorten that up and chop the frame off like on your truck RJ.

Either than or a flat bed.

Re: What gets you stuck?

1. Differential cases/Transfer case (which is why I'm done wheelin' my NP208 until I get a skid plate)
2. Frame
3. If I don't scout ahead on foot I always get stuck.

Re: What gets you stuck?

Getting high centered gets me in the sand and too much traction sometimes burries me in certain flakey dirt found around here. My weight hurts me too.
